From today, every application that is "live" and that I manage or am currently developing (including this website) runs in a Kubernetes cluster built on K3s.
Running separately, outside the cluster, are the docker image registry (Zot), the secrets storage (Infisical) and the database (Postgres).
As the deployment and monitoring tool I use ArgoCD; the GitOps structure has a repository for the platform (the applications outside the cluster, docker-compose), the Argo GitOps repository and a repository with HEL…
The new website is live, written (with Claude, apart from my own CSS styles) in TypeScript (Next.js) with Payload CMS, replacing the old Ruby on Rails application from 2018 with its hand-built CMS.
I am registering as a sole trader in the Czech Republic, so that in the future I can also go for short-term projects or contract work and consulting, and have more freedom and flexibility working on several projects that do not have to take a full FTE. Not least, it is about managing my own time and improving my income, even at the price of losing certain "securities"
After 4 years I am quitting a stable job that came with the prospect of job security basically until death, and going to try a new career in something that fulfils me considerably more. Of all the assorted IT retraining courses that just about anybody runs, this one looks the most promising in content and intensity, and the certification you get here is accepted. I am looking forward to it.
I am launching this website (a Ruby on Rails application). Its primary purpose should be presenting private and garage IT projects, and possibly a blog where I would put notes from trips and photographs from countries that are not all that far away, but that few people think of visiting and may not even have heard of, plus other IT/tech/DIY posts if it seems to me that I can offer content which is not already repeated in another 100 places.
